Explanation of IEMT treatment

What is IEMT?

The power of neuroplasticity

Your brain is not a static thing. It is a dynamic organ that is constantly changing due to influences from your environment. This ability is called neuroplasticity. And it is the driving force behind IEMT (Integral Eye Movement Therapy). IEMT is a new and innovative technique that uses this natural talent of your brain to quickly and effectively create change through eye movements.

How does a negative pattern or blockage occur?

Sometimes an experience is too overwhelming. Too fast or too much to process at once: too fast, too soon, too much. Your brain stores the unprocessed emotions and impressions in your subconscious. In your body this often translates into tension in your body or sometimes sickness symptoms. When a similar situation arises, you are immediately “hit” again: old pain. This is how negative patterns and unwanted emotions can take hold.

Not much talking, not having to think

Unlike many talk therapies and even sometimes with EMDR, IEMT does not require you to talk endlessly about your past, think about it and therefore relive traumas. We focus on body sensation and the question we ask your subconscious as a kind of Google command: How did you learn to feel this way? What was the first time?

The IEMT approach: exploratory nature: what is your body telling you?

Together we trace the original imprinting of the feeling. So you don’t have to know beforehand, how the problem you have now arose. Your body is going to tell you, your subconscious. By thinking about the original situation, while I help you move your eyes in the most effective way, we disrupt the old pattern in your brain. As a result, the memory of it loses its emotional charge. You still process the charge that was too much for you before. Even if there are decades in between. Your brain then learns, naturally, to deal with this old information in a new, neutral way.

Eye movements clean up

Simple? Yes. Strange? Not when you know that your REM sleep does exactly the same thing every night. We don’t yet know exactly why we move our eyes, but one hypothesis is that it has to do with processing information from the day before. In an IEMT session, we make very targeted use of this natural phenomenon to solve problems and encourage relaxation and growth.

New: Research on IEMT

Recent scientific research by the University of Maastricht on the effects of IEMT on the brain indicates major changes after just one IEMT session. Although the final publication is still pending, initial results and brain scans are promising and show impressive changes after just one IEMT session.
