IEMT: Beyond thinking
Difference IEMT & Cognitive Therapy.
Why talking is often not enough
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a widely used and valuable form of therapy that focuses on changing your thoughts to influence your feelings and behavior. You learn to recognize and challenge your thought patterns. For many, this is an effective step.
But what if you understand it all but don’t feel it? What if you know rationally that your reaction is exaggerated, for example, but the emotion still takes you over? Then IEMT is a wonderful complement to traditional therapy.
The limitation of the conscious brain
Cognitive therapy appeals primarily to your conscious, rational brain. The problem is that deep-seated emotions and patterns are not stored there, but in your subconscious brain. This is the realm of automatic reactions, instinct and survival. And your subconscious brain contains a complete record of your past. Not just what you still cognitively know or are aware of.
IEMT: the direct route to change
IEMT skips the detour via rational thinking and works directly at the level where the problem originated: the subconscious and feeling system.
- Cognitive therapy: you learn to change your thoughts about the spider.
- IEMT: we neutralize in your brain the original fear response to the spider, so the panicky thought doesn’t even come up again.
IEMT is not a replacement, but a powerful addition for when you find that you are still stuck, despite cognitive behavioral therapy. Are you also ready to let go of that old feeling? Call or app me for a no-obligation introductory consultation.
